Manlift Rental — Straight Answers on the Machine and the Name

If you have searched for manlift rental in Dubai, you are in the right place — and you may already know the machine you need, just under a different name. A "manlift" is the everyday, on-site name for what the equipment industry calls a boom lift or an aerial work platform (AWP). It is a self-propelled machine that raises one or two workers, their tools and materials to height on the end of a hydraulic boom, so a job can be done safely instead of relying on scaffold or a ladder. Platform Access Equipment Rental LLC rents these machines — and nothing else — across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

Our entire fleet is telescopic diesel 4×4 boom lifts in four working heights: 16, 20, 22 and 26 metres. When you call and ask for a manlift, we know exactly what you mean, and we can talk you through the right size for the reach and ground conditions on your site. If you already know your reach, jump straight to the 16 m, 20 m, 22 m or 26 m machine, or see the whole range on our Dubai boom lift rental home page.

Manlift, Boom Lift, Cherry Picker, AWP — One Machine, Many Names

The terminology around access equipment causes a lot of confusion on site, especially when a job is quoted by one trade and hired by another. Here is the plain-English version of what people actually mean:

  • Manlift / man lift — the common UAE site name for a boom-type platform that lifts a person to height. Both spellings mean the same machine.
  • Boom lift — the technical name manufacturers and rental companies use. It describes the hydraulic arm (the "boom") that carries the platform. This is exactly what our fleet is.
  • Cherry picker — an older nickname, originally from orchard platforms, still widely used for the same boom-mounted basket.
  • Aerial work platform (AWP) / aerial lift — the umbrella safety-standard term that covers boom lifts and scissor lifts alike.
  • Scissor lift — a different machine: it only travels straight up on a folding "scissor" mechanism, with no horizontal reach and no up-and-over ability. We do not rent scissor lifts, but our telescopic vs articulated boom lift guide explains where each boom type fits.

So when someone on your project asks for a "manlift", a "cherry picker" or a "boom lift", they are almost always describing the same thing. The two real decisions are the working height you need and whether the site suits a telescopic (straight-reach) or an articulated (up-and-over) boom. Every machine we own is a telescopic diesel unit built for open, outdoor work — the workhorse of UAE construction and industrial access.

How Manlift Rental Works — Terms & Minimum Hire

We rent on a bare-machine basis: you receive a fully serviced, test-certified manlift delivered to your site, and you supply your own certified operator. This keeps the rate lean and puts you in control of your own scheduling and manpower. Because these are diesel-powered machines, they are intended for open, ventilated outdoor sites — construction plots, industrial yards, facade work and the like — rather than enclosed indoor slabs.

Our rental ladder is built around longer hires, which is where a boom lift earns its keep:

  • Weekly rental — the minimum hire is one week. This is the short end of the ladder, suited to a defined task or a single phase of a project.
  • Monthly rental — the best-value option for most jobs. Once work runs around three weeks or longer, the monthly rate brings the effective cost per week down considerably.
  • Long-term rental — for site-long or multi-month commitments we agree an extended rate. See our rental overview or ask us directly for a long-term quote.

We do not offer daily or single-day hire. A manlift has to be transported, commissioned on arrival and collected again afterwards, so a one-week minimum keeps both the logistics and the price sensible for everyone. For a fuller breakdown of hire structures, our rental prices guide walks through weekly, monthly and long-term options.

How Much Does Manlift Rental Cost?

There is no single sticker price for manlift rental, because the fair rate depends on three things: the size of the machine (a 16 m unit rents for less than a 26 m unit), the duration of the hire (weekly is the short end; monthly and long-term lower the cost per week), and the delivery location within Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman. Rather than publish a misleading headline number, we quote each job on its real requirements so you know precisely what you will pay before anything moves.

For a plain-English breakdown of what drives the price — machine size, rental period, delivery, and what is and isn't included — read our boom lift rental prices guide, then send us your details for a firm quotation. The fastest route to a number is to tell us the working height you need, your site location and how long you need the machine.

Where We Deliver Manlifts

Our manlift rental service covers three emirates, and only three — deliberately. Staying focused on Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman means shorter transport distances, faster mobilisation and a team that genuinely knows the ground:

We do not deliver outside these three emirates. If your site is in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman, we can usually mobilise a machine within 24 hours of a confirmed order.

Frequently Asked Questions — Manlift Rental

Is a manlift the same as a boom lift?

Yes. "Manlift" (or "man lift") is an everyday name for the same machine engineers call a boom lift or aerial work platform (AWP), and some people call a cherry picker. It is a self-propelled diesel platform that lifts a worker and tools to height on the end of a hydraulic boom. When you ask us for a manlift, you are asking for a boom lift — our whole fleet is telescopic diesel 4×4 boom lifts from 16 to 26 metres.

Is it spelled manlift or man lift?

Both spellings are correct and mean the same thing. "Manlift" as one word and "man lift" as two words are used interchangeably across the UAE market, along with "manlift rental" and "man lift hire". The equipment is identical either way — a boom-type aerial work platform for lifting a person to height.

What sizes of manlift can I rent?

We rent four sizes of telescopic manlift, measured by working height: 16 m (16.09 m), 20 m (20.47 m), 22 m (22.02 m) and 26 m (26.38 m). Platform capacity ranges from 227 to 230 kg. Every unit is a diesel 4×4 boom lift suited to open, ventilated outdoor sites.

How much does manlift rental cost in Dubai?

Manlift rental is priced by hire duration, not by the day — the minimum hire is one week, and monthly and long-term rates offer the best value per week. The exact rate depends on the machine size, the rental period and the delivery location. Tell us your size, site and duration and we will send a quote; our rental prices page explains what drives the cost.

Do you deliver manlifts to Sharjah and Ajman?

Yes. We deliver manlifts across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. These three emirates are our entire service area, which keeps mobilisation fast and response times short. We do not deliver outside Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
